Our Vision & Mission

The Raptor Conservation Initiative was founded on the conviction that the protection of Africa’s birds of prey is essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems. Our vision is a future in which these impressive predators roam freely over pristine landscapes – and in which conservation, local development, and sustainability go hand in hand.

Who we are

Founded by Dr. Andreas Wittke, an expert with over 20 years of direct experience working with birds of prey, our initiative is based on in-depth knowledge and great passion. Dr. Wittke has trained, cared for, and successfully released birds of prey back into the wild—experiences that motivated him to launch a project focused on the conservation of African birds of prey.

Why Africa?

Africa is home to some of the world’s most impressive and endangered bird of prey species. Despite their unique biodiversity, these animals are threatened by habitat loss, the use of harmful chemicals, and illegal hunting. Our initiative aims to take concrete measures to ensure that these species not only survive but thrive in the long term.
